Brow Goals: Wax or Tweeze? -Let’s Talk Eyebrow Shaping

When it comes to shaping your eyebrows, there’s no one-size-fits-all. Some clients love the quick precision of waxing, while others need or prefer the gentler touch of tweezing—and both can create beautiful results when done thoughtfully.

So, what’s the difference? Let’s break it down.

Eyebrow Waxing

Eyebrow waxing is generally safe for most people and is my go-to when we’re aiming for a quick, clean, and defined shape. The process is fast, and it grabs multiple hairs at once, which means you’ll be in and out in no time with fresh, polished brows.

Eyebrow Tweezing

Tweezing, on the other hand, is ideal for those with sensitive skin, or clients who are on certain medications or skincare products—like retinoids—that make waxing a no-go. Tweezing is slower, yes, but incredibly precise and gentle. It allows us to respect your skin while still delivering a sharp, flattering shape.

Should You Trim Your Brows?

This is a question I get all the time—and the answer is: sometimes.

Trimming can help brows look neater, especially if you have longer hairs that tend to stick out of place. It’s great for creating a clean, polished appearance. But here’s the catch: trimming too much can leave brows looking patchy or uneven, especially if done at home without the right technique.

Some clients love a fluffy, natural brow and opt to skip trimming altogether to keep fullness and texture. Others prefer a sleeker, sharper finish and benefit from a light trim. As always, I’ll assess your brows during our session and we will come to a decision together, depending on your goals.

Now, Let’s Talk About Timing:

That old habit of coming in every two weeks? It may actually be doing your brows more harm than good. Over-cleansing your shape too often can lead to thinner, patchier brows over time.

For best results, I recommend waiting a full hair cycle—for most, that’s usually around 4 to 6 weeks—so that we can see the complete growth and really work toward your ideal brow shape.

Also… please try to resist the urge to tweeze at home (I say this with love!). I get it—it’s tempting. But the way you see your brows in your bathroom mirror may not match the direction we’re working toward in the studio. Allowing one person (??‍♀️) to handle your brow maintenance ensures consistent, balanced, and beautiful results over time.

Let’s shape your brows with intention and care.
